We made some significant progress yesterday with the help of the right tools. A friend loaned use of his Lull lift. The ten foot platform made the siding installation so much easier than off the ladders. We set up our saws in the loft and passed the materials out to John.

As for the windows, I don’t think we would have been able to handle their weight any other way. My mistake of framing the openings with hardly any play, their weight and height of the openings I couldn’t even imagine us making an attempt to get them placed off of ladders. Even if we had passed them through the openings I know we couldn’t have maneuvered them. It was a damned difficult operation even with the lift.

The weather took a turn for the worse in the afternoon. Temperatures dropped from t-shirts to sweatshirts in a couple of hours. Then came the rain. We did manage to get the last two pieces of metal and ridge cap on. This evening I hope that we will have the south face completely sided.

I’m finishing up my coffee, waiting for some socks to dry and the sun to come up before heading out for another full day. The rain has passed. The wind is cold and there is a good chance of snow today. It should be fun!

Looking good! That lift looks like a lot more fun than ladders.

So much easier on the old bones, and much safer too.
