The concrete work has finally been completed.  Last of the flatwork was done on Tuesday and the water line was trenched in too.  The lid for the cellar was finished on Monday.  The last of the excavation should be finished today.  The septic tank should be placed by Monday.  I’ll just need to plumb the tank and leeching field, then I can begin to get the grading finished.  It will be nice to get something growing around here.  The ground is so dry that it is either hard as concrete or if disturbed by machinery it has turned to dust.

I would normally be a little concerned that there is rain forecast for this morning, but that should all dry up before it reaches us.  I would gladly clean out a little runoff if we were to get a measurable rainfall.

Is the septic tank for the barn or are you just replacing the house one while you have all the equipment there?

It is interesting to see how he formed the root cellar lid. It makes my formwork back in the day seem like overkill to the 10th degree. But I guess I'm still alive to joke about it, which is the main thing. šŸ™‚

Ron…There is a wall on 16's down the center and 3/4 ply with a three inch overhang on the top of the walls. IT's a lot more solid than it appears, but I totally agree that safe is better than sorry.
