2012 Spring

Katy has decided that she would like to have her own area to plant what she would like.  We’ve decided that she will get to work a bed on the front corner of the house.  It gets a good mix sun exposure from almost complete shade to full morning and afternoon sun. I thought that it would give her an opportunity to really experiment with a wide brush.  She’s already catching on to reading the tags and planting instructions on seed packs to make her decisions.

Our fruit trees and the dogwoods are all in bloom.  We have been knocking off some of the flowers so we can have more sizable fruit.

Theresa and I have made our first morel hunt of the year along the river bottoms.  We came up dry on Friday.  Katy and I are heading back out this morning to try our luck.

I had no luck with the morels either Woody. Darn it. And my ol' bum foot has nixed any plans to try again on that ridge behind the house.

An extremely early season for morels here. I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop and get us a frost. They are saying we will be in the 90's on Monday. That shoe may have been lost.

I've seen a couple pictures of some tiny gray morels just this past weekend up here and I'm guessing we are a week or two ahead of you. I suspect with the warm temperatures this week and recent moisture, the larger yellows will start popping by this weekend.

How fun for Katy. I love Dogwood trees. I planted a second one around our place but Lee accidentally cut it off with a chainsaw. Grrrrrr.
