The Fun Begins

Since we are having a bit of warmer weather we jumped into the front porch work.

For the most part all went well. I realized that concrete work can make anyone feel much older than they are. I certainly wouldn’t want to have to handle 80# sacks of pre-mix everyday. I got home from work Friday morning and started in with the steel. Thankfully a couple of stout cups of coffee and the desire to get this part of the project done was enough to get us through the day.

I didn’t feel much like taking any more pictures after we finished placing the concrete. I’m fairly happy with the finish work but more on that later. I don’t have much experience with concrete work so much of the finish work was just trying not to fiddle around with it too much. We’ll get a good look at the results in a couple of days.

On Saturday we were at a basketball tournament for our youngest. She took a hard foul and harder fall breaking her arm in the process. The break is on the ulna about an inch from the wrist end. She isn’t a very happy camper right now. On the bright side…the team won the game and took third in the tournament. The down side…I’ve lost my little helper for four to six weeks.

Man oh man, that porch is gonna look sweet when you are done with it. The broken arm sounds awful. Hopefully it heals up nicely. đŸ˜¦

Robin..I hope it does. The results were better than I expected. I'll be getting on with the rest of it soon.Katy is doing alright. She can't really write or draw with the temporary cast, so she is pretty bummed out. Young bones heal up pretty fast. She'll be back to banging up something else before too long.
