Goals…can ya raise that bar a bit

Katy and I were on our own today. I thought we could go down to the river for a swim. Take the dogs down with us and let them splash around for awhile.

She had other ideas. Her Aunt Jenny has told her she could waitress at Friscos during lunches and on an occasional evenings during the week. Katy has helped out before at the restaurant, and done quite well. I think it is pretty cool that an eight year old likes to work as hard as she does. She wants to buy her own horse and saddle. A goal I thought she would have a little more difficulty achieving. Boy, was I wrong. She came home today with 65$ and some change from working a lunch. Add that up with her proceeds from a lemonade stand and the sale of her hog and she is so close to her goal.

I think she might be working the patrons a bit. “I’m working hard so I can buy a horse and saddle”. I should tell her to throw in a little extra cash for some new fence, a nice timber frame barn, new trailer and a nice new F350 for dear old dad.

Aunt Jenny overheard a patron trying to sell her a nice old mare for a couple of thousand and she told him that 600$ was her budget for a horse. What a hoot.

I love kids with “git-up-and-go”! That horse is going to mean so much more to her because she earned it.
